Our client, a well established and respected information technology company, is looking for a Junior Software Developer to join their London office which specialises in Insurance and Reinsurance Broking as well as Life and Pensions business in the UK. You will be required to work on site in the City of London at one of the company’s large Reinsurance Broking customers as well as liaising closely with the IT team of the customer and performing 2nd line support to the IT team.
The company is specifically looking to recruit a candidate who has initiative, self-drive and ambition to further their career by learning and improving their knowledge of IT as well as business. The successful candidate will have exposure to an experienced and dynamic IT team as well as having the opportunity to learn about the business by interacting with the practitioners directly.
Duties & Responsibilities will include:
- Development of applications using VB.Net with Visual Studio, SQL Server plus provision of general software development skills as required by the business
- Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of software development tools and methods
- Maintenance, bug fixing and enhancement of the existing applications
- Provision of 2nd-line technical support and escalated customer support requests logged by the customer’s IT & support department
- Trouble-shoot and fix problems received through the customer’s helpdesk.
- Develop, troubleshoot and implement new and/or updates to application on .NET server and its SQL database
- Develop processes for migration of data from 3rd party applications onto common customer database and application
Required skills include:
- Proficient in use of Visual Studio 2015
- Development, operation and maintenance of .NET and SQL Server (2012/16).
- Ability to interface .NET development with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Adobe professional form and Outlook
- Experienced with all phases of designing, coding and testing applications.
