Job Description:

Radiation Detector Scientist Senior

The Opportunity

 

We have an opportunity for an Applied Scientist to join our Nuclear Team to assist in the development of next generation algorithms and products.

 

Responsibilities:

Working within an experienced team of scientists and engineers to deliver new radiation detector products

Scientific testing and characterisation of new radiation detectors

Working with national laboratories, universities and external test houses to access test facilities

Simulation and modelling radiation detector systems

Algorithm development

Report writing and presentation of results

 

Essential skills and experience:

First or 2:1 degree in Physics or related discipline

High standard of data analysis and critical thinking

Experience with programming languages, such as Python or C++

Knowledge and practical experience of radiation detector instrumentation

High standard of report writing and presentation skills

Experience and willingness to work in teams.

 

Desirable skills and experience:

Willingness to travel both within the UK and internationally

Experience with radiation detector simulation tools
