What is your challenge:

We are looking for an Editor in Chief (named Chief of Quality at Blasting News) to join our team. The candidate will report directly to the CEO, overseeing all editorial policies.

What you will do:

•   Identify and manage the rules to guide Blasting News external newsroom currently comprised of about 3,000 freelance contributors active in 30+ countries, following the innovative principles and the philosophy of Blasting News;

•   Select and manage the Certified Blaster team, mostly made of professional journalists, to make sure premium content is published in each country, every day;

•   Identify and manage processes and rules to create global video reportages to be spread to the entire Blasting News worldwide properties;

•   Define the editorial rules to give guidelines to the senior members operating in different countries to approve/reject the news proposed by the numerous regular contributors;

•   Propose new editorial formats;

•   Prepare training material, training forms, and certification exams for Junior and Senior contributors;

•   Work alongside Community Managers to setup webinar and live events with Seniors of each country (“teaching classes”);

•   Work alongside different countries' Community Managers to make sure rules are correctly adopted and editorial flow is consistent;

•   Advise product team on improvements to the algorithms and technologies that sustain Blasting News value chain (e.g., the algorithm that automatically generates the homepage of different countries).

Blasting News is an innovative social news magazine. Therefore, there are several tasks that the Editor in Chief (Chief of Quality) does NOT do:

•   Define the editorial line of the journal;

•   Define the editorial plan/assign any specific topic to any specific contributor (with partial exception of the Certified Blaster, whom he/she will accept/reject editorial proposals from);

•   Decide in a direct way what will or will not be published (this is a decision made by the senior contributors);

•   Place articles on the home page;

•   Directly review the articles;

•   Directly write articles;

•   Oversee Community Managers (that manage the different countries).

The ideal candidate:

•   5+ years as an Editor-in-Chief or as a leader in organizing teams of journalists;

•   Excellent knowledge of the digital publishing arena;

•   Excellent inter-personal skills; proactive, flexible, ambitious and determined;

•   Truly entrepreneurial approach;

•   Ability to meet tight deadlines.
