The Priory Hospital North London is renowned for its clinical excellence in the field of Acute Mental Health, Addiction and Adolescent Services. It benefits from having a peaceful parkland setting only 5 minutes walk from Southgate underground station.

 

Priory Hospital North London wishes to appoint a  part time (minimum 22.5hours, all terms and conditions will be pro-rated for part-time workers) or full time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for its 22 bed specialist CAMHS In-Patient Unit.  This is a general open in-patient unit which is split into a 9 bed ward and a 13 bed ward. The vast majority of the young people are admitted through the NHS. Therefore we work closely with our Tier 3 NHS colleagues. The post holder will have a caseload of 10 in-patients. In addition they will have a small out-patient caseload that will be expected to take up no more than half a day a week.

 

The post holder will work alongside another Consultant. They  will work as part of a committed and reflective multi-disciplinary clinical team, including nursing staff, teaching staff and a wide range of specialist therapists, in delivering a high quality Tier 4 CAMHS service which includes a structured and comprehensive therapy and education programme for the young people. The unit in particular uses DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) in working with young people presenting with emotional difficulties / risk concerns.

 

This influential position calls for a CCST/CCT or equivalent in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry backed by some experience of working in in-patient settings with young people with significant and complex mental health difficulties. As a good team player, you will be keen to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation and management plans. You will also hold full GMC registration with licence to practice. The ability to lead, develop and inspire others is essential, and you must have the communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence a wide range of audiences, from service users and their families to clinical colleagues and external healthcare providers.
