Job Description:

 

Leadership/ Management 
• Work with the General Manager to inspire, motivate and lead the team to achieve or exceed sales and profit targets 
• Establish and maintain excellent standards of guest service 
• Ensure the pub reaches and maintains its maximum potential in all areas 
• Assist the General Manager to ensure all departments and team members comply with H&S, food hygiene and alcohol licensing regulations and requirements 

People 
• Assist the General Manager with the recruitment and training of team members and to manage and motivate the team to realise their maximum potential 
• Assist the General Manager with the training and development of the front-of-house team 
• Communicate regularly and effectively with all team members through team meetings, appraisals and one to one coaching 
• Assist the General Manager in preparing team rotas and schedules within agreed deadline and budgets 
• Establish and maintain excellent communication with line manager to agreed specifications and deadlines 

Guest Service 
• Consistently practice and act as a role-model in the delivery of the highest standard of guest service to ensure that no customer is ever left unsatisfied 
• Effectively receive and channel customer feedback to maintain the highest possible standards from all team members 
• Deal with any guest complaints in a professional manner, using the internal complaint process 

Sales & Profitability 
• Achieve and maximise sales and profit targets as set by the General Manager 
• Ensure that adequate staffing levels are maintained and staff costs are within budget 
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained 
• Ensure all controllable costs including wastage are kept to a minimum whilst actively seeking new ways to improve the profitability of the pub 
• Ensure that the pub trades and operates in accordance with all statutory licensing, legal and company requirements 
• Work with the General Manager to improve COS results, implementing systems to aid improvement as and when necessary 
• Adhere to money/banking procedures in line with company policy 

Stock Management 
• Assist the General Manager to establish and maintain stock taking on weekly and monthly basis to agreed levels 
• Assist the General Manager and Head Chef to establish and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient, documented, accurate and timely deliveries 
• Assist the General Manager to ensure the consistent quality, rotation and levels of stock 

Company Assets, Safety and Security 
• Carry out daily pre-shift opening checks to ensure standards of appearance and cleanliness are to the required standards 
• Ensure daily safe checks and end of night sales administration is completed accurately and carry out last-man-out checks on close downs 
• Establish, maintain and monitor the highest standards of Hygiene and Health & Safety in accordance with all statutory, legal and company requirements 
• Ensure that all company assets, keys, stock, property and goods are well cared for and secure at all times 
• Maintain the highest personal standards of presentation, dress and behaviour and to ensure that this is maintained by all team members 
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the restaurant and bar environment, utensils, goods, equipment and both FOH and BOH areas 

Additional Duties 
• Ensure the proper implementation of all company policies and procedures and to provide timely feedback to the Operations Manager how the policies and procedures could evolve to ensure a continually improving guest experience 
• Attend training and team meetings as required 
• Communicate company policies, procedures and standards and to ensure that these are fully understood, implemented and adhered to 
• Act as an ambassador for the company at all times and to carry out PR activities when requested by senior colleagues 
• Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the company
